Derrill has never forgotten to have fun sketching and painting in life drawing sessions; cafés; clubs and in plein air (often using house beer or ocean water as his medium).

Derrill Shuttleworth is an independent technical illustrator with 40 years’ experience in architectural rendering and engineering illustrations.

He has created illustrations for the Edmonton’s City Hall and Winspear Centre, Vancouver and Edmonton airports, major banks as well as numerous building projects around the world.

Since 1996, he has completed over 2000 illustrations for more than 30 mines worldwide including dams, tailings, and reclamation.

Hand-drawn rendering is a very effective tool of communication with a client. His illustrations have proven to be a valuable asset in different fields, such as architectural, interior design, technical drawings, even helping to tell a story in court cases.

Loose hand-drawing allows for easy illustration of concepts and ideas from the beginning process to the final product.

He is a resident of Gabriola Island, BC.,

Apart from the commercial work, Derrill has never forgotten to have fun sketching and painting in life drawing sessions; cafés; clubs and in plein- air (often using house beer or ocean water as his medium). He is always on the lookout for the special instant that defines the moment. His paintings have found an appreciative audience in France, Wales, England and Holland. His works grace many Canadian homes and office walls in Alberta, British Columbia and Nova Scotia. He has also done many commissions for private collectors.

Having vacationed on Gabriola Island in British Columbia for many years, Derrill and his wife Laurence could no longer resist the call of the ocean nor the vibrant artistic community and moved permanently to this beautiful island in the Salish Sea in July 2010.
